Zone Creation wizard is crashing when link aggregations are configured on the Oracle SuperCluster.

Symptoms

Ops Center is throwing a java error when attempting to create application zones on the SuperCluster logical domains:

Cannot prepare zone tasks: java.io.IOException: java.lang.NullPointerException.

Contact My Oracle Support if the problem persists.  (10445)

The deployment plan could not be executed because the provider ZoneDeploymentProvider for step Create Solaris Zones found an error:

Cannot prepare zone tasks: java.io.IOException: java.lang.NullPointerException.

Contact My Oracle Support if the problem persists. (10445)

Changes

 None

Cause

This is Bug 21218611 - Zone creation fails with Java Null pointer exception caused by the use of link aggregation configured in the zones.

This bug is still being worked in Development.

Solution

Please note that these steps are to be done on the system where the Enterprise Controlled and Proxy Controller are running not in the SuperCluster.  This also has to be done on any systems running remote proxies.

There is a patch available which is compatible with Ops Center 12.2.2 with JIDR-1.  Contact Oracle Support for this patch.

If you need a patch for a different version of Ops Center or JIDR, also contact Oracle Support.

Once the patch is installed, restart the Enterprise Controller and the co-located proxy controller.

You may need to install the patch on remote proxies if the remote proxies do not appear to be online in Ops Center.

With the patch installed, you should be able to delete the network configuration in the zone creation dialogues.
