Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to enroll a tape drive into Oracle Key Manager via VOP, it fails with the following pop-up error:

"Enrollment FAILED: ERROR: KMA Currently Unavailable"

Cause

The KMA cluster was not fully established, there were 2 KMA's which were "not responding":

From the KMA List:

 okm1 prd x.x.x.x x.x.x.x 0 build1195.1 true Responding 0 0 1004 994 0 false true Not Present
 okm2 prd x.x.x.x x.x.x.x 0 build1195.1 true Responding 80 1 1006 986 0 false true Not Present
 okm3 dr x.x.x.x x.x.x.x 0 build1195.1 false Not Responding 0 -1 0 0 0 false true Unknown
 okm4 dr x.x.x.x x.x.x.x 0 build1195.1 false Not Responding 0 -1 0 0 0 false true Unknown

Solution

There have been cases where if the KMA cluster is not fully established where not all KMA's in the cluster are up and "responding" then drive enrollments may fail.

In this scenario, the 2 down KMA's needed to be re-iped so the solution was to delete them from the OKM GUI.  We were then able to successfully enroll the tape drive via VOP.
