Created from <SR 3-11218274041> Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsCustomer just purchased the SL150 firmware version 2.50 from Oracle vendor and they are having problems reading the tapes. Noticed the issue when first powered up the unit. Looking at the from LCD panel of the SL150 to verify the tape(s)information. Loaded 24 tapes with barcodes and the display for the Tape Label section is reading "UNREADABLE". Out of the 24 tapes loaded 16 are reading "UNREADABLE". Rearranged the tapes to different slots and the tapes that were readable before become unreadable and vice versa. The SL150 is not consistently reading the barcodes on the tapes. ChangesNew Install. CauseDefective barcode labels on the tape cartridges. The labels were measured to be .2 to .3 Centimeters too short on length. SolutionThe customer labels are too short in the quiet zone on one end of the label. This shows up when looking at the labels and seeing the full indented area for the label is not covered, specifically at the end of the "L5".
