Applies to:

SPARC T3-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
SPARC T4-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The system won't start due to an event on the SCC:

------------------- ------------------------------------ -------------- --------
Time UUID msgid Severity
------------------- ------------------------------------ -------------- --------
2015-08-04/11:54:42 5e99014b-752f-4487-d5ff-af5ee9be39d5 SPT-8000-NE Critical

Fault class : fault.scc.invalid

FRU : /SYS/MB/SCC
              (Part Number: unknown)
              (Serial Number: unknown)

Description : The SCC is either missing or invalid.

Response : The service required LED on the chassis may be illuminated.
The SP network port will be disabled.

Impact : The Host will not be able to be powered on. Because the SCC
provides the SP's MAC address, the SP network management port
              will be unusable.

Action : Please refer to the associated reference document at
              http://support.oracle.com/msg/SPT-8000-NE for the latest
service procedures and policies regarding this diagnosis.

It's also possible that other related events will appear:

------------------- ------------------------------------ -------------- --------
Time UUID msgid Severity

Fault class : fault.fruid.inaccessible

FRU : /SYS/MB/FIO
              (Part Number: unknown)
              (Serial Number: unknown)

Description : The persistent storage on a FRU cannot be accessed.

Response : The system will continue running. If not yet running, the
affected FRU may not be usable.

Impact : Possible loss of resources if platform is not yet started.

Action : Please refer to the associated reference document at

Cause

A disconnection in communication between the system and parts causes the system not to recognize them or their FRUIDs.

Solution

Any event of SPT-8000-NE requires the reseat of the IDPROM/SCC (the little chip that moves between MB's when they are replaced).

If additional components are also having issues (power supplies, MB components, Memory), they should also be reseated (PSU, Main Module, or the DIMM, for example).

Once the reseating is done, please clear the errors as detailed in Quick Reference for CLI commands to run to fully clear ILOM/SP, faultmgmt shell, and FMA faults on the T3-x and T4-x Servers (Doc ID 1483194.1) and reset the SP.

Should the issue persist beyond the actions of reseating and clearing, please open an SR with Oracle Support to investigate further.
