Symptoms

The third party software Veritas is reporting these error:

"VxVM vxdmp V-5-0-112 disabled path" shows up every 5 minutes in /var/adm/messages

But Solaris is not showing anything, no problem found from the Solaris OS side, there are no local FC Link events reported at all.

Cause

From the Symantec TECH217602.html

Prior to 5.0 MP3, the error may be triggered by arrays returning 
unexpected responses to the dmp_probe_idle_lun events. If it is 
confirmed that there are no underlying problems with the SAN, 
dmp_probe_idle_lun can be disabled to prevent nuisance errors.

Solution

As we have confirmed that there are no underlying problems with the SAN or Solaris,
please, contact with Symantec that provides support for Veritas SW product, and confirm the solution is to disable dmp_probe_idle_lun to prevent nuisance errors.

Determine the current value of this tunable parameter with the following command:

# vxdmpadm gettune dmp_probe_idle_lun

Turn this feature off with the following command:

# vxdmpadm settune dmp_probe_idle_lun=off
