Created from <SR 3-11115833121>

Applies to:

Oracle Database Appliance X5-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Oracle Database Appliance Software - Version 12.1.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Running the cleanupdeploy script in ODA X5-2 causes the file /etc/oracle-release to be deleted or missing on both the ODA nodes.

This causes the respective rpm oraclelinux-release-5-11.0.2 to be deleted on both the nodes as this file gets removed with the directory.

Changes

Perform baremetal restore / deployment / re-deployement which runs cleanupdeploy in ODA X5-2.

Cause

 <Bug 20993370> - /ETC/ORACLE-RELEASE IS DELETED BY DEPLOYING

This has been identified as a script issue and will be fixed in ODA version 12.1.2.4.0.

When running the post cleanupDeploy script, the /opt/oracle/oak/onemcd/tmp/deinstall.sh script gets executed, causing the directory to be mistakenly deleted.

Solution

Upgrade the ODA version to 12.1.2.4.0 when available.

WORKAROUND:

Reinstall the rpm oraclelinux-release to fix the problem.
