Symptoms

CIM Floor Missing One Alignment Slot for Inner Wall.

The right side of the wall cannot be latched as a result.

The slot/tabs serve no structural purpose and are used for setting the correct orientation of the wall during assembly.  The remaining two slots are sufficient for this purpose.  The Southco latches are what align and hold the center wall in place. See image below to identify the missing slot:

CIM Floor

Changes

 New Install of library.

Cause

Several CIM floors were manufactured that are missing the slot engaged by the right tab at the bottom of the CIM inner wall.

Solution

Resolution -The following procedure has been used successfully in the field as a workaround for this issue.  Also attached is a PDF file with a similar alternate solution that bends the tab instead of removing it.

  • Identify the single tab at the bottom of the right side of the CIM inner wall that would engage the slot in question.
  • With a pair of locking jaw pliers (e.g. Vise-Grip®) or an adjustable wrench, grab the tab firmly just where it begins to protrude from the wall.
  • Bend the tab back and forth a few times and the tab will fatigue and snap off
  • If necessary, use a file to remove any small projections or sharp edges that may remain
  • Please report the Serial Number of the faulty CIM floor to phil.garcia@oracle.com
