Symptoms

J4410 Disk drive LED Fault light stays on after drive replacement

All fma faults cleared and acquited with fmadm

New disk drive show's ONLINE in the zfs pool or shows as AVAIL as a spare drive

WARNING: Error log directory size has exceeded threshold, please resolve issues and run vle_CleanFMALogs to clear error logs

Changes

 Drive Failure and replacement

Cause

 ILOM and FMA logs need to be cleared

Solution

For all VLE 1.4.X versions of VLE code:

1.) root privilege
 
   $ sudo bash

2.) cd to utilities directory
 
   For VLE 1.4.0 code: # cd /export/home/vleadmin/Downloads/VLE1.4.0-x64
   For VLE 1.4.1 code: # cd /export/home/vleadmin/Downloads/VLE1.4.1-x64
   For VLE 1.4.2 code: # cd /export/home/vleadmin/Downloads/VLE1.4.2-x64

   For VLE 1.5.0 code see below.

3.) Run ss_delete_fma_logs script
 
   # ./ss_delete_fma_logs

4. Run rediscover devices script

   # ./rediscover_devices

5.) recheck fault LEDs

 

For VLE 1.5.0 code:

1.) root privilege
 
   $ sudo bash

2.) Run vle_CleanFMALogs script
 
   # ./var/opt/StatusService/scripts/vle_CleanFMALogs

3.) recheck fault LEDs

 

For VSM6:

1.) Run vsm_CleanFMALogs script

sudo /opt/vsm/bin/vsm_CleanFMALogs

2.) recheck fault LEDs
