Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2023070.1 : DBCA Fails with ora-00020 When Creating Container Database (CDB) on Exadata
Applies to:Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.1 and laterExadata X5-2 Hardware - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsWhen creating a Container Database (CDB) using DBCA Template, database creation fails with ora-00020. While this is reported on Exadata Systems, it can be seen on any system with a large number of cores and / or a high value for the init parameter "parallel_max_servers". CauseDefault setting for init parameter "processes = 300" is insufficient. Two defects were filed on this issue. SolutionThere are two Workarounds: 1: Set processes parameter to greater than 600. OR 2: Unset processes parameter and system will default to 80 * number of CPU cores detected.
