In this Document
Created from <SR 3-10885843449> Applies to:Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000 Server - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Sun SPARC Enterprise M4000 Server - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsAfter a power supply was replaced in an M4000, the system failed to come up. XSCF> poweron -a
ChangesAlthough the replacefru command was not used to replace the power supply, this was corrected and the system still wouldn't come up after a power cycle. No failures were noted in the showstatus, however, many components were in a deconfigured state, and no components were missing in showhardconf. We compared the problemmatic showhardconf to that of a known good lab system to verify.
CauseNote the "Dual" status for the Power_Supply_System variable. SPARC Enterprise M4000;
+ Serial:BEFXXXXXX; Operator_Panel_Switch:Locked; + Power_Supply_System:Dual; SCF-ID:XSCF#0;
SPARC Enterprise M4000;
+ Serial:BEFXXXXXXX; Operator_Panel_Switch:Locked; + Power_Supply_System:Single; SCF-ID:XSCF#0;
SolutionUse the setdualpowerfeed command to disable the "Dual" option. XSCF> setdualpowerfeed -s disable
You will need to perfrom a power cycle after running the command and verify the problem is resolved. Once the system is powered back on:
1. Run a showstatus from the XSCF, it should show no errors: XSCF> showstatus
No failures found in System Initialization. 2. Power on the domain(s): XSCF> poweron -a
