Applies to:

Sun StorageTek T10000 Tape Drive - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer reporting repeated write issues with tape drive.

Drive event log reported FSC 580a and FSC 3932.

Changes

 None

Cause

FSC: 580A - The heads weren't ready to acquire prior to the tape reaching it's longitudinal position where reading/writing data was to begin. This location is known as At-Speed position.

FSC: 3932 - An error occurred trying to write on tape. RO hardware detected Write-side HLU Header CRC Error.

Solution

T10000C/D - 580A FSC - We have seen where temp 580A errors are causing SR's to be opened on T10000C and T10000D drives. If you get an SR that came in as an alert from SDP2, process the drive event log and verify if the drive took a perm error.

Replace drive if perm error found.
