Symptoms

This issue occured using Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit (French version).

An Oracle_Agent_3.0.0.0_Windows_GA_21Oct2014_release.exe installation was attempted and a pop-up was received displaying the following error message at the end of the installation:

InMageVssProvider installation failed with error code: 802.
For more details on the problem please check C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle Agent\InMageVSSProvider_Install.log.
Please install it manually by running the command - C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle Agent\InMageVSSProvider_Install.cmd

The services console shows the InMage Scout FX Agent service but the InMageVSSProvider is missing.

Cause

Oracle has tested the agent version on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit on English and French versions without any issues.

It appears that complex permissions were set in Active Directory and as a result the MSDTC (Data Transaction Coordinator) service could not be accessed by the Oracle agent.
 

Solution

1. Verify that the MSDTC service is running under the Services console.

2. Save the output of the following command:

sc sdshow msdtc


3. Run the following command:

sc sdset msdtc D:(A;;CCLCSWRPLOCRRC;;;S-1-2-0)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;IU)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;SU)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU)(A;;CCLCSWRPLORC;;;NS)S:(AU;FA;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;WD)

 


4. Uninstall the agent (as it was partially installed):  Start -> All Programs -> Oracle Agent -> Uninstall Oracle Agent

5. Re-install the agent.
