Symptoms

During the POST, the server displays the error "Peripherial Power Supply PPSS_0 Failed" or "Overtemp detected on board X".

The following system messages indicate environmental conditions:

Cause

This errors can be related to

  • defective Power Cooling Module (PCM) which is responsible for cooling the board reporting overtemp
  • Peripherial Power Supply itself failed
    • in this case you may see the CDROM not opening as a further behavior

 


Solution

Replace the Power supply faulted:

Peripherial Power Supply with the part number 300-1301

Power Cooling Module with part number 300-1444
