Symptoms

 FSC 5535 Load Errors.

Cause

The file reel moved unexpectedly during the time when the cartridge leader should be stationary (ears seated).

The file reel moved unexpectedly during the time when the cartridge leader should be stationary (ears seated).

Solution

T10000A/B/C/D - 5535 FSC The problem is most likely associated with excess slack in the tape. Each time the tape is loaded some of the slack is removed so it may load successfully the next time. 1 retry from the library is all that is typically needed to get the tape to load.

A code change was introduced in the T10000C release 3.63.101 and in the T10000D 4.10.106 release to help with 5535 errors.
