Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

FSC 3278, FSC3278, ATR error

FSC(3278): Library dispatcher took a select error.
Suspected Device Address :2.0.0.0.0

If subid equals 1, then Library dispatcher failed during registration, then
If subid equals 2, then Library dispatcher failed writing the response to a request
If subid equals 3, then Library dispatcher took an error during a read operation
If subid equals 4, then Library dispatcher took an error during a write operation.

Cause

Library error on the ILC interface.

Library dispatcher took a read error, write error, or registration error.

Example

2014-07-28T04:58:19.273, 1.0.0.0.0, root, default, internal, 0, error, 3278, "subId=3 Library dispatcher took an error during a read operation: Network error com.stortek.ats.elib.rpc.CommunicationException: read select error", library=ILC4

Currently an issue is opened to library code engineering investigated under Bug_18757170 to address errors reported as unrecoverable when they appear to recover without impact to customer operations.

Note an excessive number of errors reported could also indicate a hardware error that should be investigated and acted upon. Hardware related items that can cause ILC errors reported as 3278:

-ILC switch

-Ethernet cables going from the ILC switch to Port_1A from the reporting library typically library id_1.

-Ethernet cables from the ILC switch to the library referenced; example ILC4<library id_4>.
