Applies to:

Exadata X4-2 Quarter Rack - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

 infinicheck reports errors in ibqueryerrors.log:

"W- Suboptimal rate for group. Lowest member rate:40Gbps > group-rate:10Gbps"

Changes

Possibly adding a new device e.g. a media server with lower IB bandwidth,

Cause

It means that the slowest speed device found is 40Gbps, i.e.: all devices are working at 4xQDR.

The default rate for a group of systems is 10Gbps so it flags this up, however, if we change the default (for group) to be 40Gbps, then any system that is  slower cannot join that multicast group.

So, if a system dropped to 4xDDR for example, it would stop working as it couldn't join a 40Gbps multicast group.

The reason we leave the group rate at 10Gbps so anyone can join. It's better to have a system running at DDR than not running at all.

Solution

If there are no other errors or peformance issues you can ignore.
