Symptoms


SNMP and SMTP events are not forwarded.


Changes


NSP was upgraded to PIC 10.x.


Cause


Two files were not restored from backup:


    

  • /etc/hosts for SMTP
    • 

  • /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf for SNMP
    • 



Check if the SNMP server IP and SMTP server IP are defined in these files:


    

  • SMTP: Search for mail.server in /etc/hosts
    • 

  • SNMP: Search for trap in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf
    • 



Solution


 Workaround is to go through optional step of installation documentation:


    

  • Configure SNMP Management Server
    • 

  • 4.4.6 Configure Mail Server
    • 



/etc/hosts and /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf must not be modified using a text editor.
