SymptomsThe SBC Administrator is unable to use an underscore "_" within a hostname. If attempted, the system throws an error message. CauseFrom release SCX630 and onwards the hostname syntax and allowed characters have become more stringent in compliance with RFC standards. It is the RFC's that dictate what is allowed as a hostname. The allowed characters are A-Z, a-z, 0-9, - and ".". Other keys in the DNS system such as service records may use the underscore "_", but not the hostname.
SolutionChange the hostname to in accordance to standards defined in published RFC's ReferenceThe Official SBC Documentation specifically outlines what characters are allowed within a hostname for a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). (This detail may be found starting on page 28.)
