Symptoms

Field engineer was adding additional DE2-24P or DE2-24C to the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance

1. JBOD DE2-24P/DE2-24C will show the Logzilla as a 'data' drive.

2. JBOD DE2-24P/DE2-24C may show amber LEDs and the following alerts in Maintenance > Problems

Hostname: nas01
Product Type: ORACLE ZFS STORAGE ZS3-2
Summary:The JBOD is configured incorrectly.

Fault event description: The disks contained within the enclosure cannot be used as part of a storage pool.
The device configuration for JBOD '1345NM402W' is invalid.

Cause

The problem could be because of the old Appliance Firmware running on the system.

Old firmware is not able to recognize the new 200G Logzilla Disk.

Due to the appliance being on an older AK software version, the two new Log drives were seen as Data drives.

This is why it has triggered an ASR alert - "The JBOD is configured incorrectly"

Appliance Firmware Releases 2011.1.9.3 (or later) or 2013.1.4.1 (or later) will support HSCAC2DA6SUN200G Logzilla disks (Part Numbers: 7094120, 7094126, 7309938, 7309941).

Solution

Upgrade to Appliance Firmware Releases 2011.1.9.3 (or later) or 2013.1.4.1 (or later) which will support HSCAC2DA6SUN200G Logzilla disks.
