Symptoms

On ODA node 1, the Oakcli commands hang when executed. No errors are shown, the commands simply do not complete. Even oakcli show databases hangs.

ODA node 2 is fine.

Cause

The .bash_profile script for the oracle account (/home/oracle/.bash_profile) contains extraneous lines.

'export ORACLE_SID=TEST;. oraenv' has been put in the script to be executed, with the intention to default the oracle account to the TEST instance.

This causes the commands “oakcli show dbhomes”, “oakcli show databases”, and “oakcli create database” to appear to hang until the user hit enter several extra times.

Solution

Use the standard .bash_profile script for the oracle account (/home/oracle/.bash_profile)
