Pillar Axiom Replication Engine (MaxRep) - Version 3.0 to 3.0 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A part of the MaxRep version 3 install is to configure the ILOM network settings from the Support User Interface via Net 0 port following the instructions at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E58085_01/E53316_01/toc.htm#taskConfigureILOM_SupportUI_HW.html

While configuring the network settings you may receive an error message that states:

Script Failed with error : LAN set default gateway Commands: ipaddr, macaddr .retried,Failed to configure ilom gateway.

Cause

This is a software Defect with how the Support User Interface handles the user request when configuring the ILOM network settings.

Solution

The issue is fixed in release 3.0.3 and higher. Please upgrade MaxRep to the latest software release, to access the latest software release see <Document 2003726.1> MaxRep: How to Download Oracle MaxRep Release 3 and Higher

If upgrading is not an option, the workaround is to access the ILOM Java Web Console to configure the ILOM network settings using the NET MGT ethernet port located from the back of the MaxRep machine.

By default, the NET MGT port has an ip address of 10.0.0.12.  We recommend connecting a laptop directly to the NET MGT port using a standard ethernet cable and configure the laptop NIC with a static 10.0.0.x ip address but do not use 10.0.0.12, set the gateway of the laptop NIC to 10.0.0.12.

To test connectivity from the laptop, open a command prompt and verify can ping connectivity to 10.0.0.12 is successful.

On the laptop open a web-browser, in the URL type 10.0.0.12 to access the login prompt.  The default credentials to login are the following:

username: root
password: changeme

Once logged into the ILOM GUI, from the left menu expand the "ILOM Administration" and click the "Connectivity" link.  From the Network Settings page configure the ILOM network settings under "IPv4" section then click the "Save" button.

Once the changes are made you will lose access to the ILOM GUI interface from the laptop, at this point connect the NET MGT port to the network switch and verify ILOM GUI access with the new network settings that have been applied.
