Symptoms

Upgrade worked on one node while upgrade failed on the another node.

'upgrade' and 'upgrade -f' both failed with

akinstall: SUNW,maguro_plus requires a SUN-FIRE-X4170-M2-SERVER but system is Not-Available

The problem appeared to be on the BIOS.

But 'smbios -t SMB_TYPE_SYSTEM' on both node looked ok and everything was fine.

Tried reset SP and do the upgrade - still failed.

Requested that the 'update' file was reloaded and the upgrade retried - It worked fine.

Update file was corrupted

Solution

Perform a fresh download and retry the upgrade.
