Symptoms

Metric data collection is not happening for the ZFS appliances target. It shows empty in the OMS console.

The rest of the targets are being monitored with no issues. Using OEM ZFS plugin version 12.1.0.5.0

Changes

Customer just upgraded their Grid Control from version 12.1.0.2 to 12.1.0.4, they are also using a new host and a new network interfaces.

Cause

Problem:

Successfully added ZFS targets to Grid Control 12c. However, none of the targets show any metrics (i.e., graphs are empty). Clicking on "All Metrics" and then selecting a metric causes "An error occurred calling the metric data service. Unable to get metric LogicalStatus from agent for target infzfs02 sun_storage_7000, root cause: oracle.sysman.emSDK.emd.comm.MetricGetException: Unknown network error has occurred. Please contact the adminstrator.. on UI item OracleZFSUi0...top5ShareChart on page PageActivityDef[homePg]"

The agent's gcagent.log indicates:

Solution

Opening port 22 in the firewall (in addition to port 215) from the agent hosts to the management interface solved the problem
