ENVIRONMENT:
Single or dual TCP/IP

Symptoms

Library to host communication has been lost.

Library was working but lost communication with the host LPARs.

Library is communicating but responses are very sluggish.

Library not communicating with any hosts.

Scenario 1:

Library is communicating but responses are very sluggish

  • Check ewi log and look for the following messages:

LOG SAMPLE:

Time : 2011-05-09T01:11:18.844 Text : “Host socket connection accepted” Parameters : Socket=9023207/skt/50001/10.237.153.43identifier=NonblockingSocket[addr=10.101.47.139,port=10549,localport=50001]

Scenario 2:

Library not communicating with any hosts

Cause

 Disconnect between library and host.

Solution

Troubleshooting:

  • Check hardware
  • Make sure all cable are connected.
  • Make sure hosts can be pinged from library port 2B (this may be a production environment and you may not be able to disconnect anything).
  • Check host connectivity status via HLI panel on SLC.
