We have identified bad cables in the field that ship with new SL8500 installs that contain the SEMkits. This cable is installed left of center in the SEM of the library.

Symptoms

SL8500 - Expansion Module Cables Wrong, PN313890302.

P/N-313890302, CBL ASSY,JMPR,AC PWR-FRT,EF

The P728 and J728 white connectors were reversed and attached to the wrong set of pins. As a result, the cable cannot be connected at the CIM and RIM.

Changes

New installation of SL8500 library.

Cause

Manufacturing assembly issue.

Solution

The correct connector pin assignment would have been:

P728; male connector with female pins

J728; female mating connector with male pins

Incorrect connector pin assignment:

P728; male connector with male pins

J728; female mating connector with female pins

Interim Solution:

One local site reversed the connectors to address the issue. The cable manufacturer is in process of re-manufacturing the cables correctly. Replacement cables should be ready by late December 2014.

Update as of 2/2015 replacement cables are now available from quality engineering in Colorado.
