Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1947825.1 : T10000C - 081F SNO
In this Document
Oracle Confidential PARTNER - Available to partners (SUN). Applies to:StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. Getting an error code 081F. It shows microcode but the field text is not clear. The engineering text adds: The kernel detected a synchronous trap, the cause is Data Access Exception. This fsc is left from Timberline. It does not occur in 9840. If this is left over from Timberline (9490), then I presume it won't occur on T10k drives, either (especially since the text above is lifted from the T1C dictionary). Every time I got any such spurious FSC, this is usually down to random memory corruption (I don't know if drive circuitry uses ECC memory), microcode corruption and other random issues. If this occurs often, it makes sense to reflash the drive. If not, then IPL the drive (this FSC will probably cause the drive to SNO dump where it already IPL-ed). If it doesn't help, then POR the drive, and if this repeats, replace the drive, since its memory is bad. Symptoms081F SNO FSC081F CauseIt is most likely a situation where the TCM memory has encountered a bit flip that causes the firmware to access the incorrect memory location. SolutionIf the drive is running on current code this is NOT a firmware issue. If the exact same drive has failed more than once, consider replacing the drive, otherwise, it is safe to assume that the drive is ok and the re-boot of the firmware that took place after the SNO should take care of the problem.
