Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When you attempt to redirect the CD-ROM via the Remote Console, a message window titled "Cannot redirect CD-ROM image" appears with the error message "CD-ROM image redirection is not supported on your client OS."

Changes

It is a known limitation which is described in the requirements section on page 12 in ILOM "Remote Redirection Consoles — CLI and Web Guide"

Cause

This error occurs when the required Java Development Kit (JDK) for the Remote Console is either not installed, or a 64-bit Java is being used on the client OS, and an attempt to redirect the CD-ROM is performed.

A 32-bit JDK is required for CD-ROM redirection.

NOTE: The remote console works with both 32-bit and 64-bit JDK.

Solution

 For storage redirection please use 32-bit Java

Below is an example of selecting 32-bit Java on a Windows 7 machine:

 To select the 32-bit Java version:

1) The jnlp file will be downloaded, upon invoking remote redirection of ILOM.

2) This file will require 'Java(TM) Web Start Launcher' to work. And this is 'javaws.exe' file located at below two locations:

--> C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.7.0_75\bin (64 bit version Java)
--> C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.7.0_75\bin (32 bit version Java)  <--- Select the 32-bit version.

3) Select 'Open with' option and browse to 32-bit version of Java, in order for the CD-ROM ISO redirection to work correctly.
