Symptoms

When trying to access the BUI via the admin interface,  it is inaccessible and generates the following message:

....................................................................................................................................................................
Unhandled global exception: at https://<address of the appliance>:215/appliance/generic/common/index.js line 328
....................................................................................................................................................................

The customer decided to reboot the server and failed over to the cluster peer.  After this, the service became available.

Cause

The exception errors produced were the result of the browser caching policy and have been logged in Bug 15524387

Bug 16524387 - mod_ak caching policy can lead to spurious errors

Solution

This is related to the way the pages are cached from the Browser User Interface (BUI) and loads them into the Browser. i.e Firefox or IE.

It can often happen when the Browser loses connection to the appliance and then produces the akerror:

Unhandled global exception: <RefenceError: AKTXT_CLUSTER_AKCS_UNCONFIGURED is not defined> at https://<appliance_IP_ADDRESS>:215/appliance/generic/common/index.js line 328

The exception errors  produced - are the result of the caching  policy and have been logged in this bug:

Bug 16524387 - mod_ak caching policy can lead to spurious errors

This is related to the Browser issue and the workaround is to clear the cache and restart the browser.

To workaround this issue, please do the following:

1/ First confirm that you can login to the appliance via the CLI menu.

2/ Then start by clearing the browser cache:

To clear the cache on Firefox:  goto Tools> options> advanced> Web cache content>  Clear Now

To clear the cache on IE:         goto Tools> Browsing History> Delete - All cached Temp files / cookies / passwords

3/  Then restart the browser

4/  You can then check the BUI connection and login access to a valid network management interface.

This issue will be fixed in a future AK software release.
