Symptoms

There are Critical alarms TKPIC20518: Message Feeder Dropping Messages and TKPIC20515: Message Feeder Overload in Sysalarms and SystemOverload alarm in pmiaMonitor log.

PMF show the mfDsip counters are jumping back and forth from 0 to their normal value.

pmiaMonitor log:

0703:135625.189 TR-V SystemOverload alarm cleared [18921/MfLinkWriter.C:511]
0703:135636.216 TR-V SystemOverload alarm set [18921/MfLinkWriter.C:505]
0703:135718.307 TR-V SystemOverload alarm cleared [18921/MfLinkWriter.C:511]
0703:135729.330 TR-V SystemOverload alarm set [18921/MfLinkWriter.C:505]

Cause

The value of "xMF Parameter holding default value for ThresholdKbps" in the PMF setting in the CCM is too low.

This parameter is limiting the traffic processed in input of the PMF.

By default it is only 40Mbps if the PDU buffering is enable and 100Mbps when PDU buffering is disable.

Solution

Verify in Acquisition > Site > xxx> xmf > settings the value of ThresholdKbps and update it in order to meet the new max quantity of data received.

It is recommended that the user enter a ThresholdKbps value in the range for the following conditions:

  • 100,000 - 500,000 Kbps for a system that has no disk storage (PDUStorage=0) and
  • 10,000 - 50,000 Kbps for a system with disk storage (PDUStorage=1)
