Information in this document applies to any platform.

There has been 2 recent events after upgrading or relocating SL3000s that involved ACSLS support over many hours to resolve. It required dropping of database tables, rebuilding the database and then running an acsss_config in addition to multiple reboots and ACSLS shutdowns and restarts.

Symptoms

 ACSLS Hanging After Library Reconfiguration

Changes

Upgraded or Relocated SL3000.

Cause

The source of the problem was the presence of data cartridges in reserved or inactive cells when ACSLS was started.

Solution

Make sure that when bulk loading the library that the customer is aware of the cells that are not available.
These cells are:

  • the first  column (front & back) to the far left if no AEM or PEM is present.
  • the 3 columns (front & back) to the far left and the far right if PEMs are present.
  • the CAPs.
  • the last 4 rows at the bottom of the DEM and BASE.
  • any unlicensed cell.
