Symptoms

cellnode1#ibstatus command shows that the INIT state:

Infiniband device 'mlx4_0' port 2 status:

sm lid: 0x22
state: 2: INIT<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< This port does not see the SM (Subnet Master)
phys state: 5: LinkUp<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Cable is connected and there is a link
rate: 40 Gb/sec (4X QDR)

Cause

There were no subnetmanagers MASTER (SM) running on the IB fabric.

Solution

Collect ILOM snapshots from all IB switches on the Infiniband fabric and contact Oracle support.

Alternatively, customer can manually login to all the IB switches and check:

# ibswitches

# getmaster
