In this Document
Created from <SR 3-9555008521> Applies to:Sun ZFS Storage 7420 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Sun ZFS Storage 7320 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Sun ZFS Storage 7120 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] 7000 Appliance OS (Fishworks) Details of the 'source' and 'destination' systems OS: Source Filer: ak/generic@2013.06.05.2.1,1-2.3.3.1 Target Filer: ak/generic@2013.06.05.1.8,1-1.1 SymptomsThe replication starts and completes successfully, but an alert message is shown at completion: "Finished replicating 'Library' to appliance 'nas429'. Target needs to be upgraded."
When inspecting the source alert.ak.txt we see: Fri Aug 29 00:15:03 2014
nvlist version: 0 project = Library target_host = nas429 source = appliance/kit/akd:default class = alert.ak.appliance.nas.project.replication.send.start uuid = 4c4cebf3-e548-46ca-e83a-ecb50e044257 link = Fri Aug 29 00:15:25 2014 nvlist version: 0 project = Library target_host = nas429 source = appliance/kit/akd:default link = 4c4cebf3-e548-46ca-e83a-ecb50e044257 class = alert.ak.appliance.nas.project.replication.send.finish.downrev result = success uuid = caff77e9-154c-46be-ca2e-834a6a9b8230
On the target, we see: Fri Aug 29 00:15:08 2014 Fri Aug 29 00:15:23 2014
So replication was successful.
CauseFrom MOS Document ID 1595549.1 - Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System: How to set up Replication
SolutionUpgrade the replication target host to the same major and minor code (or newer) as the replication source host and apply deferred updates when appropriate.
Remark: According to Bug 18521183, this warning may be issued when the source appliance supports 1MB volblocksize but the target does not. If the datasets being replicated are using 1MB volblocksize the replication will fail. If the volblocksize is smaller, the replication succeeds but the message is still issued as a warning. If the replication is successful the message can be ignored. If the replication fails, the message would likely be different - please review MOS Document ID 1958039.1 - Remote Replication Compatibility
