Symptoms

ODAVP Oracle Database Appliance Virtualized Platform product and operating system availability

Changes

Cause

Important:

Many ODAVP operations and maintenance must be performed using Oakcli commands instead of the CLIENT Oracle VM Manager GUI
However, many of the CLI commands are the same as used for Oracle VM.

Note

Oracle VM 3.2.3 templates and guest OS's are usable on the most current version of the ODA

The available OS versions and supported products will change overtime so please refer to the above note and documentation for the most current support information.
See Note 888888.1 and the associated readmes for the current supported OVM server version of ODA that you are on. (For ODAVP issue #oakcli show version -detail )
Many OVM compatible templates can be downloaded from edelivery.oracle.com

Solution

OPERATING SYSTEMS

Any VM OS supported by the ODA OVM server level.
Each ODA version will show the supported OVM versions

# oakcli show version -detail

Once you know the OVM server version, to see which OSs are supported for each version of VM server you can go to CERTIFY TAB under MOS

Example:

Enter the following information

  1. Product               : Oracle VM Server for x86
  2. Release version
  3. Platform

Here is an example for VM server 3.4.3 x86

Any product able to run on the associated OS should be eligible for installing on the VM OS.
Installation of a product is not the same as stating it is currently a supported product.

For example:

RDBMS 10.2.0.4 can be installed on some of OS versions supported on OVM 3.2.3 or 3.4.3.
This does not mean the RDBMS 10.2.0.4 version is currently supported.

Only that the OVM supports an OS which was certified for using with the RDBMS 10.2.0.4 version.

Here is a second example for 3.2.3.0.0
