Symptoms

Four Sun Blade X4-2B all with SG-PCIEFCGBE-E8-N Sun StorageTek Dual 8 Gb FC Dual 1 GbE HBAs (371-4666) are not establishing a connection to the SAN.
No link shown on the switch (Brocade switchshow).
Operating System is Windows 2012. Please note, the same behaviour will apply for Windows 2008.

Cause

The Emulex device driver is not installed as part of the Windows OS and these drivers have to be installed manually.

Solution

To Install the Software for the Windows Server 2008 OS or Windows Server 2012 OS

  Go to the Emulex support site at:

http://www.emulex.com/downloads/oracle.html
  Click the model number (SG-model-number) for the HBA you want to install.
  Locate the Windows Driver section and click the link to the driver and applications kit for the appropriate version of Windows.
  Click Download to copy the driver and applications kit to a local file system.
  Click each of the manual icons to open the associated user manual.
  Install the driver and management utilities for the Windows OS as described in the installation guide.
