Symptoms

Exporting a share using a NIS-resolved hostname or netgroup does not work.

This issue is caused by misconfiguration.

Solution

Check that 'allow non-DNS resolution' is enabled under services/DNS.

This setting is required to allow the host lookup via NIS to take place.
