Symptoms

exachk runs the following:

/opt/oracle.SupportTools/ibdiagtools/verify-topology -t fattree

May raise output such as the following:

[ DB Machine Infiniband Cabling Topology Verification Tool ]
[Version IBD VER 2.d ]
External non-Exadata-image nodes found:
...will check for ZFS if on SSC - else ignore

Found 2 leaf, 0 spine, 0 top spine switches

Check if all hosts have 2 HCAs to different switches...............[SUCCESS]
Leaf switch check: cardinality and even distribution..............
[ERROR] Leaf Switch _IP_ with GUID _guid_ has fewer than 4 compute nodes links. It has 2 links ( 14A 13B) to compute nodes

[ERROR] Leaf Switch _IP_ with GUID _guid_ as fewer than 7 links to storage cells. It has 5 links ( 17A 17B 16A 16B 15B)to storage cells

[ERROR] Leaf Switch _IP_ with GUID _guid_ has fewer than 4 compute nodes links. It has 2 links (14A 13B ) to compute nodes

Changes

A standard confguration (such as a quarter rack in this case) was modified (for the scenario reported, 2 new storage cells were added).

Cause

exachk did not know how to manage the non-standard configuration when evaluating the system.
This is being investigated in the exachk Enhancement Request <Bug 16371186> - VERIFY-TOPOLOGY ERRORS

Solution

Manually run the verify-topology command with the base configuration type.
ie in the case here, a quarter rack:

/opt/oracle.SupportTools/ibdiagtools/verify-topology -t quarterrack
