Symptoms

System board would not power on and would fail on the firmware on one of the PROMs during POST


When powered on SB exhibits PROM related failures.  Setkeyswitch does not complete and the Board is marked as failed

SC> setkeyswitch on
Powering boards on ...
Bad checksum POST Segment PROM 1 in SB0
Please use flashupdate to update the firmware on the board.

Each time POST is run it fails on the firmware on PROM1 on the board

Showboards shows the flashprom as corrupted

Cause

Flashprom as corrupted

 

Solution

Once the firmware is copied from another board and the board is powered off and on and then tested it can power on post and rejoins the config.

E6900A_SC0:SC> flashupdate -c SB1 SB0
Waiting for critical processes to finish. This may take a while.
Critical processes have finished.
Updating the flash image of PROM /N0/SB0/FP0 with PROM /N0/SB1/FP0
Erasing .................. Done
Programming .................. Done

Updating the flash image of PROM /N0/SB0/FP1 with PROM /N0/SB1/FP0
