Solution

Replace failed disk drive in D2200sb storage array.

Identify faulty disk

Execute SYSCHECK to identify faulty disk:

To determine if the faulty disk is on the blade server or the D220sb storage array:

hpacucli ctrl slot=0 pd all show status (note slot=0 points test to the disk controller on the blade server)

hpacucli ctrl slot=3 pd all show status (note slot=3 points test to the disk controller on the D2200sb storage array):

Procedure

1. Unpack the replacement drive unit from the shipping box, label the new drive to identify it is a new drive to avoid errors during the process of removal.
2. Open the DIH D2200SB drive drawer. Press the red lever on the front center to extend the drawer handle, Extend the drawer to gain access to the drives.
   CAUTION: Thermal regulation is maintained only when the drive drawer is closed. The drive
   temperature alarm is triggered under the following conditions:

   • A slow beep and flash (1 every 5 seconds) indicate that the drive drawer is open. The drives are not fully protected by system air flow.
   • A fast beep and flash (2 per second)—To avoid drive damage or data loss and storage blade shutdown, close the drive drawer immediately.
   • When the drives reach critical temperatures, the system shuts down.
3. DRIVE Location:
   The drive count from left to right, front to the back:
   • row 1 disk 1, 2, 3
   • row 2 disk 4, 5, 6
   • row 3 disk 7,8
   • row 4 disk 9, 10
   • row 5 disk 11,12
4. Remove the target drive and insert new replacement drive. When inserted, the Power and Spin LEDs are dark but should turn on within 15 second. Two green LEDs are visible on the top of the drive unit. If this does not occur, make sure the drive is properly inserted.
5. Close Sidecar to avoid overheating.
6. Enter SYSCHECK DISK command on the DIH TVOE ssh login to ensure the SYNC process has successfully started. See output example below. Example:

7. To observer the status of the disk syncing. This syncing may take up to 40 minutes:
   hpacucli ctrl slot=3 pd (determined from the syscheck command, Physical disk: 1I:1:12)
