StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This document assists with an SL150 issue with the operator panel display screen having wavy lines.

Operator panel problem.

Changes

New Operator Panel has been released for the SL150.

Cause

The new Display Tech OP Panel generates more noise when running with SL150 firmware 2.25 and lower.  This noise causes the display screen to appear wavy.  (Please see attached reference video)

Solution

This is fixed in the KLO (OP Panel controller card) PIC code that will be in SL150 2.50 code scheduled for release in the January 2015 time frame.

The new Display Tech OP Panels released at the end of August 2014.   The OP Panel should not be replaced, rather, the customer should be told that the next SL150 2.50 code will fix the issue.

The initial release P/N for these Display Tech OP Panels is 7068565.  These Display Tech OP Panels broke into production libraries at S/N 464970G+1437SY3185 for Oracle libraries.

For the OEM version of the SL150 for Hitachi the S/N break in of the Display Tech OP Panel starts at S/N 464970G+1437SY3160.

If a customer has a SL150 whose S/N is before the above S/N break in then further troubleshooting should be done to diagnose the customer's issue.
