More than 3 XSCF panics within

Created from <SR 3-9113450031>

Applies to:

Fujitsu M10-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Fujitsu M10-4S - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Fujitsu M10-1 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

XSCF console sessions hang, front operator panel and rear XSCF Check LEDs are
solid amber.

When a connection is made to the XSCF serial port, the following two lines
repeat for every carriage return typed:

REBOOT: COUNTER ERROR
(reason=0x00 counter=4 threshold=3)
REBOOT: COUNTER ERROR
(reason=0x00 counter=4 threshold=3)
REBOOT: COUNTER ERROR
(reason=0x00 counter=4 threshold=3)

Active Solaris images continue to run, but there is no access to the PPAR
(Solaris) consoles as the XSCF is otherwise unresponsive.

Changes

Cause

This appears to be the message put out following some hardening of the fault-->panic-->reboot scheme used for unexpected XSCF faults and introduced in FW 2070.

Previous versions of FW would merely hang. These messages were added to indicate what might be going on. The improved algorithm will allow 3 trips through the fault-->panic-->reboot loop within a certain time period before the XSCF "gives up" and produces this message.

Solution

Recovery from this situation requires an AC power cycle of the entire M10-4 system prior to FW 2091.

Starting with FW 2091, it may be possible to recover the XSCF with a pushbutton reset.
