Applies to:

Sun SPARC Enterprise M5000 Server - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

# cfgadm -al -o show_SCSI_LUN
cfgadm: Configuration administration not supported

Changes

 Replaced faulty hba's and moved to different slots

Cause

hba paths are different than what is actually in /dev/cfg

/dev/cfg
shows

  c1 -> ../../devices/pci@3,700000/SUNW,qlc@0/fp@0,0:fc
  c3 -> ../../devices/pci@13,700000/SUNW,qlc@0/fp@0,0:fc
  c4 -> ../../devices/pci@3,700000/SUNW,qlc@0,1/fp@0,0:fc
  c5 -> ../../devices/pci@13,700000/SUNW,qlc@0,1/fp@0,0:fc

But the fcinfo.out is showing long device paths under the "OS Device Name" field instead of the /dev/cfg/c#

  # grep "OS Device" <explorer_dir>/sysconfig/fcinfo.out
  OS Device Name: /devices/pci@0,600000/pci@0/pci@8/pci@0,1/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0:fc
  OS Device Name: /devices/pci@0,600000/pci@0/pci@8/pci@0,1/SUNW,qlc@1,1/fp@0,0:fc
  OS Device Name: /devices/pci@10,600000/pci@0/pci@8/pci@0,1/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0:fc
  OS Device Name: /devices/pci@10,600000/pci@0/pci@8/pci@0,1/SUNW,qlc@1,1/fp@0,0:fc

Normally issue appears if not using a account that has root permission.
In this case, moving or replacing hardware caused the problem.

Solution

Run
devfsadm -Cv
