Symptoms

When stopping or migrating an Oracle VM guest domain using ldm the system suffers a Hypervisor Abort, impacting the entire chassis.

The following is reported in ILOM event logs after issuing the ldm stop or migration request;

684 Tue May 6 10:32:13 2014 System Log minor
      Host: Standby
683 Tue May 6 10:32:13 2014 System Log minor
      Host: Error Standby
682 Tue May 6 10:31:45 2014 System Log minor
      Host: Solaris panicking
681 Tue May 6 10:31:44 2014 System Log minor
      May 6 10:31:44 ERROR: HV Abort: PC = 0xb721eec

A manual power cycle is required to recover the system.

All guest domains may not be exposed to this issue, however once a domain experiences this behavior the symptoms will remain persistent on shutdown/migration operations.

Cause

tick_sync is enabled in SPARC T5 SysFW as per bug 18724928.

Solution

SysFW 9.3.0.b resolves this problem.
