Changes

Using X4-2

Performing a re-image, bare metal restore or clean installation using ISO images to build the ODA from the OS up.

Bare Metal to Virtualized ODA configuration
Virtualized to Bare Metal ODA configuration
Requiring changes in the port connection type after an installation

Cause

Usually this happens when accidentally choosing the wrong connection type when prompted during the installation or reimage process

A reimage is common after

Switching between

Bare Metal and Virtualization Installations
If changing ASM disk redundancy
If changing ASM disk Storage between Local and External
Rapid deployment to the newest ODA version in order to skip upgrade steps
Wanting to create a Clean machine installation due to administrative choices

Solution

Running the script setupX4Network.pl on the X4-2 will allow you to change the network connection by choosing between a Fiber or Twisted-Pair / Copper Connection type:

If you make a mistake or need to change your public network choice later, reconfigure your system by running the script /opt/oracle/oak/lib/setupX4network.pl as the root user on both nodes.

Note: the ODA will auto-detect if the connection is 10gbe or 1 gbe regardless of the media type chosen.

STEPS

Run the following

/opt/oracle/oak/lib/setupX4Network.pl

After the script performs several internal checks you will be prompted for the following:

"Do you want to use Fiber or Copper cards for public network? Please Choose [C]opper or [F]iber."

Then your will see either of the following confirmations based on your choice

"User has chosen to configure Fiber cards for public network"

- or -

"User has chosen to configure Copper cards for public network"
