An error is seen in the "maintenance - problems" screen of the BUI with a description like: Description The device configuration for JBOD '1137FMD00X' is invalid.
Type Major Defect Impact The disks contained within the enclosure cannot be used as part of a storage pool. ChangesReplacing a disk can cause this alert to be generated. CauseThe root cause of the alert is that a disk has been removed which the system interprets as a misconfigured configuration. It is entirely possible that the disk removal was due to maintenance action done in another SR or simply system testing. If that is the case, and you are convinced the alert is benign, then mark the problem as repaired and ignore the SR (it will close on it's own).
NOTE: You may also see this alert where the JBOD contains devices with an unsupported (lower) revision of firmware.
NOTE ALSO: You may also see this alert where the Logzilla configuration within a JBOD is incorrect - DE2 trays should have either 24 HDDs (fully populated),
SolutionIn some cases the disk is indeed faulty and needs to be replaced. In the case of the alert seen above - under the Symptoms section - check the state of HDD 5 in chassis 1137FMD00X. If is shows Absent or Removed, please take the following action:
