Symptoms

Customer cannot import cleaning cartridges via the two SL8500 CAPs (Cartridge Access Port)

Cause

CAP procedural error was made by the customer who manually unlocked CAP via SLConsole to enter cartridges prior to submit an enter via ACSLS.

To be eligible to reservation by HLI host (ACSLS or ELS) an idle CAP must be empty of cartridges.
To initiate an enter or eject operation you must submit an explicit enter or eject request from ACSLS/ELS to unlock CAP before you press 'CAP Open' on the keypad to open CAP door then enter or eject cartridges.

 

Solution

1. Ensure there is no active enter or eject requests in ACSLS using the "query request all" command.  Cancel any pending request using "cancel request_id" command.
2. Using SLConsole Select Tools > Diagnostics.
3. Expand the CAP folder. Select the CAP to modify.
4. Click the Access tab.
5. In the Locked list select: False to unlock CAP.
6. Click Apply.
7. Open CAP and remove all cartridges .
8. Close CAP.
9. In the Locked list select: True to lock CAP.
10. Check CAP status is ok with "q cap all" (State = Online, Mode = Manual, Status = Available).
11. Submit an enter via ACSLS (CAP should unlock).
12. Open CAP an insert cartridges.
13. Close the CAP.
14. Cartridges are moved in to library slots.
