Symptoms

Trying to start database in a Solaris 11.1 SuperCluster Zone, Alert log shows the following:

ORA-00210: cannot open the specified control file
ORA-00202: control file: '/u02/app/oracle/product/<dbname>/oradata/<instance_name>/control02.ctl'
ORA-27086: unable to lock file - already in use

Cause

The file system that  holds the controlfile and datafile are  an NFS   mount  from the ZFS device  in SuperCluster.

The problem happens  because  locks are not cleared  on  the  nfs mount

Solution

(1) Unmount the file systems once again.
(2) #clear_locks -s  <Name_of_NFS_Server>
(3) Mount the file systems back.
(4) Try starting the database instance.
