Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1903228.1 : Sun Storage 2500-M2 and 6000 Arrays: How to Resolve an Alarm for a NET_SETUP_ERROR
In this Document
Applies to:Sun Storage 6780 Array - Version All Versions and laterSun Storage 6540 Array - Version All Versions and later Sun Storage 2530-M2 Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 2540-M2 Array - Version Not Applicable and later Sun Storage 6140 Array - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsSun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) reports an open alarm against a Sun Storage 2500-M2 or 6000 array for a NET_SETUP_ERROR. In this example, the alarm is opened on a Sun Storage 6780. Event Code : 80.66.1077
Event Type : 6780.ProblemEvent.REC_NET_SETUP_ERROR Severity : 0 Sample Description : Network setup error detected on controller {0}. Probable Cause : Both of the ethernet ports on a single controller have been configured to use the same subnet. Recommended Action : Change the ethernet configuration so that the ports on a single controller are on different subnets CauseAs indicated by the alarm, both Ethernet ports on a single RAID controller have been configured on the same subnet. You can view this in two places:
Ethernet port: 1
SolutionDo not use Ethernet Port 2. When managing the array with CAM, you must only use Ethernet Port 1 for OOB communication. Ethernet Port 2 must be unconfigured in CAM, and unplugged from any switch. While the error message suggests that subnets are involved, in fact Ethernet Port 2 should never be configured or connected. CAM > Storage Array > Physical Devices > Controllers > Controller A(B) > Ethernet Port 1 and Ethernet Port 2. Ethernet port 2 is reserved for onsite diagnostics and Field Engineers to connect using Field Tools.
