After replacing tape drive, the KMS 1.x system is reporting the following error:

Receiving the following error message when attempting to encrypt the drive:
Not Enough Raw Keys to complete operation; 0 available, 3 required

Cause

Not Enough Raw Keys to complete operation; 0 available, 3 required error message received when attempting to encrypt a replacement drive.
 
There were 0 raw keys available for use, thus the replaced tape drive could not be encrypted.

Solution

1) From command line, login as kmsadmin and from /opt/SUNWkms/app/mars run the following command:

./mkkeys -k 2

2) Then in the KMS gui - Follow the below procedure to import the keys:

1. Log in to the application using an Administrator login and password.
2. Select Keys from the left-hand menu.
3. Select Raw Key Load from the drop-down menu.

4. In the Import Keys Directory*, enter: /export/home/kms/mnt_cd
5. Click Apply.
A message indicating the number of keys created from “Making Raw Keys” are imported appears.
