Symptoms

Having drive issue in SL8500 Solaris Environment.
HP LTO4 tape drive

Drive is not communicating with backup application.

Re-configured the drive in backup application with no luck.

No errors generated in SL console error warn info log.

Cause

Possible drive failure or bad media.

Solution

Send a FE to the site to:

- Inspect the drive physically.

- Verify the cable connectivity.

- Run diagnostic tests on drive and replace it if necessary.

Drive failed assessment test and scsi tools capacity test.

Replaced tape drive.
