LTO6 tape label issue with Symantec. NetBackup doesn’t have their ACSLS LTO 6 media type defined and it comes up as “UNKNOWN”. ChangesAdding LTO-6 drives to operating system that is running under Symantec NetBackup. CauseThis problem exists because of NetBackup issues in handling of LTO5 and LTO6 cartridges. The problem resides in NetBackup which is a Semantic problem. This is the issue that Symantec has not updated the HCART media definitions in NetBackup to be able to define ALL of the available LTO cartridge models. Anytime NBU request to scan the Barcode of an LTO6 it comes back with unknown. SolutionHave the customer acquire the upgrade to Netbackup from Semantic as Netbackup is their product. We have had 2 similar issues in SR 3-7740843251 and 3-7502612171, in which the customer contacted Semantic for a code upgrade to resolve their issue.
